Prior to counseling with Lynn, I saw being healthy as something that made me anxious. Being healthy, to me, required a 100% rejection of all the foods and habits I enjoy.  Of course, I see the light now! 

My perspective on my health is now about balance-- simply striving to be a better "me" through foods that are good for me and habits that help me achieve my goals.  I'll never forget how enlightened I was when Lynn explained the distinction between primary and secondary foods.  It is just one of the many examples of how integrative nutrition makes sense and is remarkably easy to incorporate into your life, no matter your lifestyle.  Lynn's passion for wellness is contagious!

One of my resolutions for New Year 2010 was more focus on "me".  Health counseling sessions with Lynn have already played an extremely important role in guiding and focusing me to care more for myself and in turn for that of the health of my family. 

I am more excited when I prepare my weekly shopping list as I explore varied options for food choices as well as experimenting with foods that I previously thought that I could only prepare in a traditional manner.  Lynn gently reminds me of the personal goals that I expressed during our first session.  I am working towards giving myself "my time" each day to refresh, recharge and as a result be more readily available for any challenges that come my way as a professional and most importantly, as wife and mother of two lovelies!

I came to Lynn originally with my daughter’s health in mind.  I was concerned about her weight gain and had wanted to learn healthy options for a more balanced diet.  I had thought that health counseling would provide me with the tools that I needed for her.   My time with Lynn has helped me to see beyond this limited view of Health Counseling.   Now I realize that Health Counseling is really a holistic approach to life.  One’s health is physical, emotional and spiritual.   I have been stretched to see life differently.   


My initial goal of a better diet for my daughter and therefore our family has been part of the process.  I am now more conscious of what I offer our kids to eat and the importance of physical activity.   Beyond this initial goal I now understand better the importance of a being healthy emotionally and spiritually also.   Lynn has stretched me to look deeper for ways to become more myself in a healthy way.  


I am being stretched to see myself differently and to recognize the importance of focusing on myself along with my family and others.   As a “helper” I have often placed myself second, but in the end I am seeing better that placing myself second impedes my ability to function well in the roles set before me.   I look forward to continuing on this journey toward a more healthy whole.

Since starting health counseling with Lynn, I have seen a great number of positive changes in my life.
